RMHF Receives Donation in Memorial of Long-Time LPN Joyce Kowalyk
March 27, 2021: Joyce Kowalyk was a long-time LPN in the Maternity and Pediatric departments at Ridge Meadows Hospital. She was passionate about her work and provided dedicated care to so many new babies and moms, children and families in her community. She started at RMH in 1976, retired in 2002, and sadly, passed away in October of 2020.
Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation was delighted to receive a very generous donation made in memory of Joyce from her long-time friend and co-worker Andrea Dolan. Andrea thoughtfully donated $10,000 to help purchase high-priority equipment needs for the maternity department – to care for babies born with high bilirubin levels (jaundice). Phototherapy treatment helps to breakdown the bilirubin quickly and adding an extra set of lights, another blanket and 2 new meters was a priority for the department this year.
Annette Harrington, Maternity department manager expressed her gratitude for the support from the many donors who provided funding to help our babies and families – “How wonderful to have such a generous gift made in memory of a former nurse in our department – continuing the care that Joyce provided for years while she was here.”
Thank you, Joyce. Your legacy of caring is truly a gift of health to our new babies and our community. And, thank you Andrea for your thoughtful gift in Joyce’s memory.
