At Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, we are constantly inspired by the incredible ways our community comes together for better health. Today, we are thrilled to spotlight a wonderful initiative by our friends at Maple Ridge Christian School (MRCS) that benefits both their students and our hospital.
On Friday, May 29, 2026, MRCS students, staff, and families will be lacing up their sneakers to walk 5km through our neighbourhood for their annual Walkathon. This year, they are stepping up with a beautiful display of community spirit: for every $10 raised, $1 will be generously shared with the Pediatric Programs right here at Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation! While the students are walking to support our youngest patients, they are also walking to build the future of their school. MRCS has set a Walkathon goal of $65,000 to fund “Phase One: The Blueprint Phase,” which will provide the technical groundwork, engineering, and architectural plans needed for their brand-new third-floor expansion.
As an independent school, MRCS receives only 40–50% of the government funding that public schools do. While their current funding and tuition cover day-to-day operations, the school relies on the generosity of the community to make major facility expansions like this possible. By supporting their Walkathon, you aren’t just helping them lay the foundation for new classrooms and labs—you are also directly supporting the health and care of children in our hospital.
Our local students have already been hard at work raising pledges by pulling weeds, selling friendship bracelets, and hosting neighbourhood lemonade stands. We invite our Foundation community to rally behind these dedicated kids!
Let’s help MRCS reach their $65,000 goal and support our Paediatric Unit along the way.
